Reverie

  The image here is of the moon, captured by me using my Samsung M14 Android phone on Wednesday (12.03.2025), Thursday (13.03.2025), and Friday (14.03.2025), respectively, from my balcony at home in Thiruvananthapuram, India. I happen to be extremely lucky on Friday, as, just moments after capturing a few shots, the moon disappeared from the sky. A total lunar eclipse was witnessed on Friday, the first one since 2022. During a total lunar eclipse, long wavelengths of sunlight are refracted through Earth’s atmosphere before reaching the Moon, which reflects them in reddish hues, often resembling the color of blood. The Moon does not disappear from sight but instead takes on this reddish tint, hence, earning it the name Blood Moon. So, a Blood Moon occurs during a total lunar eclipse when the Sun, Earth, and Moon align in that order.
